Fixed prosthesis – is it worth using

At the word “prosthetics”, probably, everyone sees himself as disabled and reacts with horror to this word. But what is dental prosthetics and what are its types, we try to tell at the maximum in this article.

The reasons why the tooth is destroyed

It often happens that healthy teeth seem to be severely affected by caries from the inside. This happens when, during a bad tooth brushing, there are food particles between the teeth, and also when using a brush of improper stiffness, which leads to a tooth plaque on the teeth destroying the enamel of the tooth. At visual inspection the patient does not see destruction and caries penetrates deep into the entire tooth. Yes, and ecology, stress and other causes are no less detrimental to the teeth.

And so, you came to a dentist, he starts to treat his teeth and it turns out that because of deep caries there is no possibility to put a seal, as there are no guarantees that it will not fall out the next day. Therefore, one option that the doctor will be able to offer is the installation of an immovable denture.

Prostheses that are installed on one tooth

There are several types of permanent prosthetics, and which one to choose depends not on you, but on the clinical case and its complexity:

1. Veneers – very thin ceramic plates that adhere to the front, front part of the tooth and do not differ in color from tooth enamel. Installed when the damage is located in the smile zone and for this there is practically no need for turning the tooth;

2. Tabs, with which you can restore a small part of the tooth, as well as an extensive part, formed after the treatment of caries. Established when the damage affects not only the front, but also chewing teeth. The inserts do not become porous, they do not absorb substances that stain and practically do not lend themselves to destruction;

3. Crowns are placed when there is damage to the tooth or most of it is destroyed and there is no possibility to put a seal. Thanks to the crowns, the tooth is restored, even to the ground.

Fixed prosthesis (bridges)

It is a fused design that is installed in the absence of three or more teeth, and imitates three to four teeth. They are not basic, so they put on sharpened living teeth. Thanks to them you can restore the missing tooth. There are many disadvantages in such prostheses:

1. The need to grind adjacent teeth and remove the root;

2. Does not load the jaw;

3. Does not prevent the resorption of your bone;

4. Chewing function is limited.

Therefore, non-removable bridges are used if there is no possibility to use more effective prostheses.

Also there are adhesive bridge bridges, which are a single crown and fastenings on the sides to the supporting teeth. Such bridges are considered to be more sparing, because they practically do not need to be turned or not polished at all. And they, like the previous ones, have many shortcomings, including the inability to fully perform the functions of a natural tooth.

Immovable prosthesis installed on implants

Are most effective when teeth are completely lost. They represent a cylindrical root of titanium, which is implanted in the bone itself. And then a few months later (this time is necessary for the implant to settle down), a ceramic crown is installed. And for the engraftment period, a temporary crown is installed.

Care for the prosthesis is the same as for ordinary teeth. Daily oral hygiene, as well as a visit to the dental clinic twice a year.

And remember: the problem should be solved, but not left for later!

Should I give up dentures?

A tooth loss can turn into a problem if the problem is not solved in time. It would seem that one dropped tooth will not affect anything. But over time, abandoning the procedure for restoration, you can feel yourself the whole fatalities of the situation. Having lost an additional support, other teeth are displaced. The deformity of the occlusion causes discomfort and inconvenience.

Load previously distributed evenly, negatively affects the condition of the remaining. Displacement of teeth can cause a pathology of the jaw joint. Indifference to yourself will drag the distortion of the outlines of the face. At the first opportunity, contact the dentist “Swiss-Dent”.

In previous articles, we talked about implantation – one of the ways to bring back a healthy, beautiful smile. Even in the absence of roots, we can completely restore the dentition with the help of implants. The method refers to non-removable prosthetics, which is described in more detail below.
If, for some reason, you do not have the opportunity to use the implant, prosthetics of teeth is the best way out of the situation. The modern technique of prosthetics allows painless restoration of the destroyed tooth, given its color and shape. The prosthesis will not stand out, aggressively striking the eye. As soon as the tooth has dropped out, you need to think about “tomorrow”: what will it lead to?
